Death in Dank Memer

Death is a mechanic in our bot that helps balance risk vs reward in some commands. It's one of the first mechanics introduced to our bot when we made our currency system, and it's something that (at the time) was fairly unique to our type of bot.

In this article we'll go over what happens when you die, and how to avoid death!

What happens when you die?

When you die without any protection, a few things can happen.

  • You can lose anywhere from 50%-100% of coins in your pocket. (Your bank is safe from death.)
  • You can lose 3 random items, and a random number of those 3 items.
    • For example, if you own 100 apples, 100 banknotes, 100 shovels, 100 fishing poles, you might lose 50 apples, 2 banknotes, and 79 shovels.
  • Death removes any active items you have. Active items are things like padlocks, spinners, etc. You can see these in the profile command if you have some active.

How can I avoid death?

Lifesavers

You can avoid death and ALL of its effects easily with lifesavers. As long as you have a lifesaver in your inventory, you are protected.

A lifesaver will be automatically consumed when the death mechanic is triggered, saving you from anything negative. NOTE: Sometimes a command will say you died (such as search) but the lifesaver might have still worked. The only way to know for sure is to check your notifications command. It will tell you if you died or not.

Apples

Apples are similar to lifesavers, but there are some key differences.

  • You have to manually use an apple to get its protection.
  • Once used it lasts 24 hours
  • Apples will protect you from losing ANY items, but your coins are still at risk.

If you have both a lifesaver in your inventory AND an apple active, the lifesaver takes precedence. This essentially means apples are backups for if you run out of lifesavers, we highly recommend buying and using one every day!

Hopefully this article has helped you avoid an untimely demise in Dank Memer!
