In this article I will go over all you need to know about the key event. Please check the heading of the sections to find what you’re looking for.

Fragments

You can earn fragments in two ways:

1. Answering a daily riddle (see “Daily Riddles” section)
2. Completing event challenges (see “Event Challenges” section

Keys

Keys were obtained over a year ago when leveling. The only way to obtain keys now is by trading on the market (/market view)

• As a general rule, there is nothing wrong with working together to help each other with riddles and challenges.

Daily Riddles

In the /event command, the riddles tab is where you find your daily riddle.

This riddle is not the same for everyone at the same time, and there is a random prize included with the fragments for winning.

Riddle UI works like this:

• First, you hit “Start Riddle”. This starts your 30 second timer.
• Next, an ephemeral message appears (a message that only you can see) showing you the riddle.
• Finally, you hit the green “Answer” button to submit your answer before the time is up.

Please keep the following in mind while doing riddles:

• They are related to Discord/Dank Memer in some way
• Answers are always one word only
• Capitalization does not matter, but spelling does
• You have ~30 seconds from the riddle hitting your screen, to running out of time to answer
• You get a new riddle at UTC midnight each day
• If at any point Discord breaks and you cannot see the ephemeral riddle message or something doesn’t go through, you can press the buttons again. This does not, however, reset the timer. We’ve given timers slightly over 30 seconds to help with Discord issues.
• Because of Discord mobile, mobile users will not see the timer counting down live on the ephemeral message. There is nothing we can do, do the riddle as quickly as you can.
• If your device time is not 100% accurate, your timer will not be 100% accurate. You will still have the correct amount of time, but the visual display might be offset for you.

Event Challenges

In the /event command, the challenges tab is where you find your longer term challenges.

These challenges are the same for everyone, and are available until the end of the event.

Please keep the following in mind while doing event challenges:

• These are meant to be slightly harder, requiring you to play multiple aspects of the game
• We do not clarify or give hints to anybody
• You will know you completed one because the bot will tell you while running commands
• All but one give 5 fragments. That special one gives 15 fragments.
• All tasks for these challenges are around using Dank Memer or our website.

Fragment/Key Shops

• Do not press buy unless you are certain you’d like to buy something
• Everything is only a one-time purchase unless it says (repeatable) next to the name
• The space tank skin will be obtainable in a different way in the future, no other limited rewards will be obtainable from this event again.

Event Badges

• Completing all available Event Challenges will earn you the Challenge Architect badge.
• Spending a puzzle key in the puzzle key shop on anything will earn you the Key Spender badge.
• These badges will not be obtainable again after this event ends.

Competition

There is a competition to see who can complete all the challenges first. The first 3 winners gets a choice between the following:

• 10,000 gems
• $100 steam gift card
• US ONLY - A physical representation of the puzzle key (will take time to create and ship)

There is no leaderboard for this on purpose, because we will be watching and validating that the winners did not cheat, before announcing the winners in DMC once 3 people have finished properly.

Leaderboards

The leaderboards for keys and fragments spent are straightforward.

For riddles answered, we sort twice. First, by total number of riddles answered, the second we sort by average time to answer.

Timing

We do not have a set date yet for ending the event, but we are aiming for about 2 weeks (14 full days).

Why does this event exist

Because a silly goofy doofus promised it over a year ago when the landscape of the bot looked different, and it kept getting pushed back for more urgent matters but they didn’t want to break this promise.
