Welcome to a new form of communication we're going to start doing! We hear feedback a lot that people love how we communicate with the community a lot compared to other games, and I'd like to upkeep that especially in the new year as we make bigger changes to how we work.
This is inspired by two games who do similar posts. Factorio is a favorite of Badosz, and Destiny 2 is Kable's second job.
So going forward, these "Pixel Progression" posts will contain a bit of info about whats going on behind the scenes as well as address anything the community feels needs addressed somewhere other than an entire blog post. Lets get started!
2024 Post
First up, we posted a chunky post about our goals for 2024 and beyond that you won't want to miss if you'd like to follow what this game will be doing and heading towards! Check it out by clicking here
Organization
This has been a slow week for us, as the new year and holidays have wrapped up. People are slowly coming back to work and I've spent the last few days planning what the next 1-2 months of work will be in specific sets of tasks. As people come back, they'll be able to see a task list spanning 1-2 months worth, where applicable.
We use notion to organize our tasks and game documents, and this is an example of what one person's task list might look like.
It's not a COMPLETE list, as things often pop up, but it allows them to kind of know what's coming and what priority things might be when they are working. The engineers are usually the ones with the heavier task lists, as we constantly have improvements and updates to work on!
You might notice that we categorize things by priority, rather than due date. This is because, for better or worse, we believe in letting our staff work on their own schedules. If something needs done in a certain amount of time, it's communicated with them directly rather than having a daunting list of deadlines upcoming. This works in a lot of ways, as for the most part nothing gets left by the wayside and people stay happy working when they'd like to. It helps as well because a lot of our staff are part time, and not full time.
Bugs and Squashing Things
A lot of the time spent this week that hasn't been planning has been squashing bugs that have popped up since season 2, the last major update.
For example, there was a bug fixed today where instead of "while on vacation, passive mode cannot expire", the code had essentially "when OFF vacation, passive mode cannot expire" and while on vacation... people had passive mode expire.
Other bugs were fixed as well, such as one with baits and another with people not getting the pink bucket from the pink event.
Community Shoutouts
Something I'd like to do each time we post one of these, is take a moment to call out cool things happening in the community.
GTA... Never
/u/Cytxry_127 was scrolling back and found a meme from April 2022 via "pls meme" that made fun of the fact that GTA isn't coming out in our lifetime. Still rings true! LINK: https://www.reddit.com/r/dankmemer/comments/18w6g7d/was_scrolling_back_and_found_this_lmaoo/
Most Devastating Loss

Wrapup
This is the end of the first pixel progressions post. Hopefully the first of many!
If there's something specific you'd like to know about, let us know and maybe we can have a section on it in a future post. See you next week!
