Pixel Progression #2

Welcome to the second edition of Pixel Progression!

Hopefully this is helping players see a glimpse into our world and is something you'd like us to continue doing going forward.

As a heads up, because of the hold on fight taxes coming out, people have started trading with the fight command to avoid market tax. Not just to avoid tax... THIS IS A BAD IDEA! Fighting doesn't have protection against scamming, and we've seen hundreds of billions in new scams this way. It's simply not worth it, just use the market. Fight taxes will be here soon anyway, with the same tax rate. Don't risk your money!

The organization continues from last week, but in the form of bugs and new projects!

To start, we brought a couple of moderators and our staff writer up with the task of helping us keep track of bug reports, and we started a new page where in the near future, we'll list publicly all known existing bugs. This will be a page that people can open themselves and see if a bug they're experiencing is an issue for everyone or possibly isn't reported yet.

Huge thanks to Dr. Asylum, Angel, and Zomb for helping out. Shoutout to all the DMS mods in fact, who help field these reports day in and day out.

Once we've verified this is how we'd like to proceed, we'll open this up to everyone and announce it in a future edition of Pixel Progressions. You can see a screenshot of what it currently looks like, below.

The other part of this organization I talked about above was new projects, and we've got... multiple great ones.

We didn't need a survey to tell us that people wanted pls and gambling commands back. We didn't make those decisions lightly, and we don't make the decision lightly when we tell you they'll be coming back (in a limited way).

Gambling

Gambling will be back, with some changes. For the launch, it'll only include slots, blackjack, and snakeeyes. The badges will be obtainable once again, at the higher requirements that were set out before the rewrite reduced them.

These will be on the main Dank Memer, and will feature bare version of gambling with no multipliers. Yes, we will get removed from the app directory over this. Please read the app directory section below for more info on why we don't... care. More info on this later this summer.

Pls prefix

This is... a lot harder and will be a lot more limited. We started development officially on supporting both slash commands and pls prefix, but we are not interested in losing features on slash commands and therefore, pls prefixed commands will be limited to any commands that don't take any arguments.

For instance, pls beg will work, but pls rob @user will not. As we've said repeatedly, prefixed commands lack features that we rely on from Discord's api. So we'll support them where we can and make improvements over time, but it'll never be as feature filled as slash commands, and most complex commands will stay unique to slash commands. More info on this, later this summer.

Dank Memer Themed Games

This month, Badosz and I are each making a Dank Memer themed game prototype as a mini game jam of sorts and showing them off to each other at the end of the month. We don't plan to sell these or anything, as they're just for fun projects to get into the game development mood. But after this, we'll be working together on this team's first steam game that we want to release this year! We've got some fun ideas for it too...

We removed gambling to be on the directory, and we're not too big to admit it didn't pay off. Discord failed to support the app directory enough for it to benefit us... really at all.

We actually removed our listing from the app directory temporarily about a week ago to see what the hit would be on our growth and it was.. less than 5%. Certainly not worth losing users who loved gambling and left, last year.

The only thing we WILL miss out on, is in-app purchases on discord. We'll have to continue to use Patreon and our own website, because Discord's purchases for bots are built into the app directory system.

Some of you might be asking what the app directory is... and that makes sense. It's a bot list like top.gg but within a discord server. But it's hidden in menus and only accessible on PC, and not mobile.

This week, we also did a lot of work preparing for our next minor update, likely coming before the next Pixel Progression post. It'll include bundle balances, level reward overhauls (less cash, new items unique to the track, new pet, slightly shorter prestige cooldowns).

Additionally, we just started working on some valentines day content, scheduled drops for the bot's birthday, and are cooking up something special for that day as well in the world of fishing!

Something I'd like to do each time we post one of these, is take a moment to call out cool things happening in the community.

Thanks for stopping by to our second post, ready for the third next week?

If there's something specific you'd like to know about, let us know and maybe we can have a section on it in a future post. See you next week!
