Welcome to Pixel Progression #21!

Hopefully you didn't miss us TOO much during our break from this series.

Fishing Knowledgebase

Fishing Knowledgebase Home @90%

We love fishing, you love fishing. But fishing can be confusing for anyone who doesn't understand how to find tutorials. Sometimes people also understand the basics, but need more info one ONE aspect. So we made this

In the next major update this will be live as well, and its one of our most advanced website pages so far. There's a lot of attention to detail here for you that hopefully you'll have fun with.

I'll dump some more images down at the bottom of this blog for you to enjoy!

Bundles and Collectors

We're making some fundamental changes to bundles and collectors badges in the next major update.

Bundles

We are rebalancing every bundle by hand this time around, which is the reason for this taking so long!

In the past, bundles have been roughly balanced based on global ALL TIME rarity. As you might imagine, there's a few flaws with this:

  • What if most of the items are on legacy accounts?
  • What if an item used to be easy to get, but got much harder later?

So now, we made a formula to help calculate a bundle's quantity on the following factors:

  • All time global rarity (still a majority of the score)
  • Legacy account amount (factored in, but only a small amount)
  • Amount gained globally RECENTLY across all systems (a good amount of the score)
  • Balanced against an item per bundle that we found to be fair (So we'd pick one item in the bundle that was hard to do, but not ABSURD, and use that as a baseline)

The results may surprise you, as the legacy accounts and recent gains changed a lot of what bundles look like greatly. Some will be harder, some will be easier. Almost all are changed.

Here is an example of two bundles that have been balanced and by how much they changed:

  • Plastic Maniac
    • Blue Plastic: 1350 (-1650)
    • Orange Plastic: 400 (-1200)
    • Golden Plastic: 200 (-1050)
    • Purple Plastic: 600 (+0)
    • Multi Plastic: 150 (-350)
  • Pepe Collector
    • Pepe: 2500 (+0)
    • Pepe Statue: 1600 (+1000)
    • Pepe Coin: 400 (+100)
    • Pepe Medal: 50 (+25)
    • Pepe Trophy: 60 (+35)
    • Pepe Ring: 10 (-10)
    • Pepe Crown: 20 (+15)

Collectors Badge

The collectors badge is one of the most OP goals to reach, and its always getting harder as we add more and more items. This puts all new players at a marginal disadvantage longer term as a barrier to catching up. There's nothing wrong with legacy players having an advantage, but as we've said recently in other places, this advantage needs to make sense.

  • Collectors badge will be upkeep required, meaning you will need to complete new bundles as they release to maintain the badge
  • Deprecated bundles will no longer count towards badge progress. This used to let you "skip" a bundle, but the difficulty was almost NEVER equal. Your reward was having the badge previously and using those perks, if we deprecated something it was for a good reason

Recap

All in all, this will allow us to add new features for the collectors badge that some might consider OP without putting future players at a disadvantage further than the disadvantage of being late to the profit.

Captchas

In our next major update, we made a dramatic change to captchas.

Captchas have confused our silly goofy little users since they were made, so we're simplifying them by moving them to our website.

When you trigger a captcha, you'll be prompted to visit our site. Except in rare cases, you will not be required to interact at all. Our captcha service will check on you similar to how it checks on you during freemium claims.

Once done, you go back to grinding. Ez!

Net Worth

As previously announced, our next major update will dramatically change everyone's net worth globally.

Nearly everyone globally will lose a large portion of their net worth. Keep in mind, net worth is only a flex stat and changes nothing about your gameplay. Since everyone is feeling this effect equally, this is NOT a "nerf" or changing the game in any way other than squishing numbers and preventing artificial inflation from bad market actors.

Also as an update, we decided to change 25% from our original announcement to 20% when it comes to collectible and trinket prices.

Player Support

This is to give information on ongoing known issues or common points of confusion.

Known Issues

These are issues we know about, and don't need reported right now.

  • Quality time's tutorial text is incorrect
  • The image of freemium in /vote is incorrect

Some great takes on pepe taking the place of our beloved NPCs. My favorite? The developer team of course.

I used to collect these, but then they kept falling over. I love this rendition of our developer team though!

I unfortunately did not drink enough water and was sick for a good chunk of my break.

Also, no there is not a date set in stone for the next major update. When it is done... Have you checked our roadmap recently?
