Welcome to Pixel Progression #25!
Happy September, for part of the world it's finally getting past heat into the chilly weather and we can start looking forward to spooky season!
Upcoming Updates
You can always check our roadmap for the bigger picture of what we're working on, but here's a few highlights:
- Fishing season 4: purely content such as new locations/skins/creatures/season pass, etc!
- More gambling: Blackjack anyone? And that's just the start!
- More server events: Enjoy mythical fish but want non-fishing events in your servers? Say less!
- All new system and games: We're concepting and working on art...
- Much more
Survey
As you may have noticed over the past few months, we're getting back to basics on what makes this bot fun and appealing to more than just one group of people. Most recently shown with bringing back (some, still in progress) gambling and pls as a prefix!
Well we need YOUR feedback to continue doing this, so we've got a survey for you all to fill out for that. In about a week we'll pick 5 winners to win 5,000 gems each from this survey, from people who gave a decent effort into being truthful to help us improve things!

Dashboard
We recently released our server dashboard for servers to manage their bot settings (and more...).
We're looking for feedback and suggestions for this dashboard if something is bothering you or missing that you'd need from us. Please direct this feedback into the suggestions channel in our community server!
Buffs/Nerfs
One feedback piece we get a lot is that the constant nerfs are unfun and lead people to stop playing.
Previously, we purposely released new things in OP states to be tuned back later, to generate hype and bursts of engagement with new systems. This was a deliberate (but not always measurable at scale, thanks fishing) move.
As you might have noticed, we took a new approach with gambling. We released them in an "ok" state, knowing we had room to buff as needed. They met "ok" reception, and it's allowed us to issue a series of small buffs.
My question for you is, does this feel better? Does it kill the hype for something to not be OP at launch? How are you feeling about these small buffs and new approach?
New Players
Those of you who see new players, we need some feedback from you! While we take some time to build out retention data tools, help us understand the more rough parts of starting this game for the first time.
Specifically we have a great retention rate for servers who add the bot for the first time, but PLAYERS starting have a much higher drop off rate and we're not sure exactly (yet) at what point things are too much or too unfun to continue. In our last major update we made the intro message much shorter and clearer, but it seemed to have no effect in the grand scheme on retaining new players.
Ask around, let us know what you find about SPECIFIC pain points. Not just general "it's complicated" or "there's a lot to learn", we need actionable data on what pain points we can relieve to help these players! We'll be, as I said, doing our own tooling on this before long, but it's not the highest priority at the moment compared to features you guys are itching for on our roadmap.
The entire game is fun with new players, they feed the grinding market for everyone else!
Spooky Season
Just a heads up, we plan on having some exciting returning things happening this spooky season. Buckle up and prepare yourself, as by next month's post some of these will already be starting!
Season 4
Fishing season 4 is not far away, and here's where we stand for full transparency:
- We intend on meeting this release date still, but we are behind on art for once (usually development is behind!) and will keep you updated
- Season 4 is almost entirely just content, not structural/system changes. No new tools or baits or skills, but new fish and cosmetics and locations and such.
- Pass price might not be the same as this current season, we're crunching the numbers on that still.
- We are still going back and forth on whether the pass will contain 100 or 150 tiers, but that might help dictate price either way.
- In season 5 (not 4) we are looking at better ways to do pass leveling, such as daily/weekly seasonal quests that exist to push forward your season pass rank. Let us know if you like this idea as opposed to just grinding fish purely.
Known Issues
These are issues we know about, and don't need reported right now.
- Fight ranking is sometimes out of order
- The image of freemium in /vote is incorrect

A flyer for chad's gym is NOT what I expected to see this month, but it makes me very happy!

While this isn't anything crazy, the outcome paired with the title gave me one of those classic snort laughs. We need more snort laughs in life.
