What is this open beta for?

This open beta is showcasing our progress so far in our slash commands rewrite. In this blog post, I'll detail what is different (mostly) and a few REALLY cool things to use and earn from this Beta.

For any questions and not bugs, you can ask in our subreddit. I've already made a mega thread for questions and concerns where I'll try to respond to relevant and not repeated top-level questions: Link to Reddit megathread

After the beta, we'll have another Reddit thread asking specifically for feedback after a week, and maybe a poll or two as well. We value your feedback! Anything other than "don't switch to slash commands" is valid feedback, we just ask you to keep it constructive and not attack anyone for the hard work they've done.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE:

VALUES in this beta will not necessarily reflect production. This means item values, command cooldowns, payouts on things, etc. All of these are subject to (and likely will) change. Bug reports containing "x is paying less than production" are not valid.

Does my data carry over to the non-beta bot?

No. It's all separate and will be gone when the beta is finished. Go crazy, it's a week of a temporary playground that doesn't matter.

What is NOT in this beta?

There's a whole lot either not finished, or DIFFERENT from the main bot. This section is for what's not finished yet.

What's New?

• Slash commands, duh!
• All new trade system
• Pets all have different stats now
• Pet UX got an overhaul
• Profile bios
• /item command
• Most non family-friendly language has been phased out
• Most menus with buttons or drop downs no longer ever expire
• /game is for playing games without betting, while /wager is for those same games but with bets
• Settings command overhaul
• ANY item can now be dropped for a deal, not just "drop items" as a category
• /test-command will give you a one-time bump of items and money to help start your grind. This is temporary only for this beta.
• Bankrob got an overhaul to be less spammy all around
• Block system with /block, you can also go through the right click menu on someone's name to block them in the apps folder
• Replaced gainlog and losslog with /currencylog, which ALSO shows items!
• Items + stream auto-expire now, not after running commands
• Some commands have all new tutorials, other tutorials are still a WIP
• Some items have new icons
• Some commands will work in DMs
• Lots of small UI and QoL changes that we've probably forgotten to list here

Rewards for BETA TESTING!

ANY user who does beta testing for us during this week period will get the following rewards after rewrite completion (June target for these rewards)

• Slash command beta badge
• "Look mom, I'm a beta" Title

Any user who submits a bug to our support server (discord.gg/dankmemerbot) and it is both valid AND gets fixed gets the following rewards at the same date as above

• Bug hunter badge
• 3x God boxes
• "Bug Detective" Title

There are instructions for bug reporting in the #beta-bot-channel in our support server.

The RICHEST USER at the end of this beta period will get the following on the main bot:

• 10 Blobs, handcrafted by Melmsie (not inflation, these already exist on another account)
• Your username in the beg command
• Your own search location (basic rewards)
• Eternal clout and a shoutout on our end of beta blog post

We feel every user for this beta test is starting off on equal footing, and we wanna see exactly how high you can soar. The only rule is IF you find a dupe glitch to become this rich, you tell us what it was so we can fix it after this week. No other rules for this at all. Team up, go solo, we don't care!

Slash commands??? WTF????

We've addressed this multiple times. We get it, people don't like slash commands. That said, Discord is requiring bots to transition to slash commands later this year no matter what, so it's better to get used to it now.

We've found not only for ourselves, but our alpha testers at like 20:1 have found they enjoy slash commands MUCH MORE after giving it a little time to get used to it. It's a learning curve from what you're used to, but the UX is just SO much better. (Make sure you update your clients for the best experience)

Rewrite ETA

This beta test is really a test to see how far along we are in infrastructure. If it goes well, I'm still confident in my May release estimate. If it doesn't, it could be June. We'll see and update you after this test. We really need ALL USERS WHO ARE WILLING to be trying out this beta to give us the best idea possible of how well we wrote this infrastructure.

BREAK THIS BOT

We WANT you to find any possible way you can break and abuse this. We are not bot banning anyone for finding and using exploits for this beta test, we're only asking that you report them to us so we can fix them later. In fact, if you find a big enough exploit we'll give you higher rewards than the default bug report rewards.

Add the beta bot

You can invite our beta bot right now and start running slash commands as soon as they show up in your client. Any and all servers willing to test the HELL out of this are helping us out a ton.

Chaos

Just like these patch notes are chaotic and all over the place, we expect both DMC and our support server to be chaotic with questions and strong opinions. The support server will be locked during the entirety of the beta test, however, we left a premium user support channel open in DMC for those with premium channel access.

DMC will stay unlocked unless things get out of hand, so let us be civil with each other dear god, please.
