Dank Memer Rewrite Open Beta #2

What is this open beta for?

This open beta is showcasing our progress so far in our slash commands rewrite. In this blog post, I'll detail what is different from the last beta. You can read about the previous beta by clicking this

Questions? Concerns?

For any questions and not bugs, you can ask in our subreddit. I've already made a mega thread for questions and concerns where I'll try to respond to relevant and not repeated top-level questions: Link to Reddit megathread

After the beta, we'll have another Reddit thread asking specifically for feedback after a week, and maybe a poll or two as well. We value your feedback! Anything other than "don't switch to slash commands" is valid feedback, we just ask you to keep it constructive and not attack anyone for the hard work they've done.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE:

VALUES in this beta will not necessarily reflect production. This means item values, command cooldowns, payouts on things, etc. All of these are subject to (and likely will) change. Bug reports containing "x is paying less than production" are not valid.

Does my data carry over to the non-beta bot?

No. It's all separate and will be gone when the beta is finished. Go crazy, it's a week of a temporary playground that doesn't matter.

What is NOT in this beta?

There's a whole lot either not finished, or DIFFERENT from the last open beta. This section is for what's not finished yet.

• Leaderboards (robbers wishlist + top + itemlb)
• Most commands that are NOT currency-related
• Out west adventure (Saving this for launch so it's fresh and new)
• The ability to use some items (credit card + robbers wishlist)
• Tip content
• Automod (we want you to try and break the bot anyway, try your hardest and report bugs you cause)
• Names of servers, will show server IDs instead
• Buying lootboxes
• Most tutorials are non-existent or outdated

What's New Since Last Beta?

• wiped the old beta database (everything is fresh now)
• added slots to /table
• added almost all missing items to /use (only credit card & robbers wish list are missing)
• added a LOT of new art
• added minigames
• added vote reminders
• fuzzy search improved by a lot
• weekly and monthly commands are now calendar-based (like daily)
  • weekly now resets each calendar week (Sunday)
  • monthly now resets each calendar month (eg you can do monthly Jan 31st and Feb 1st)
• added daily/weekly/monthly reminders
  • you can enable them in /settings
  • it reminds you to do these commands 1d/7d/30d after your last daily/weekly/monthly
• added /compare
• added tax to /wager
• added /taxcalc
• removed trading (completely, hahaha. Blog post on this after the beta)
• added market system
  • new command: /market
  • use /market post to post global sell/buy "x item for y" offers
  • use /market view to view all offers
  • use /market remove to remove your offer
  • use /market accept to accept an offer
  • all offers are posted in DMC and you can accept them from there
  • posting market offers has a fee based on offer value, rather than a "tax"
  • you can specify how long the offer lasts (1-12 days)
• added /vacation
• added currency events
• added blackhole lottery
• drops were reworked
  • /buy no longer has anything to do with drops
  • you can now buy drops directly from /drops command with a button
• /buy autocomplete now only shows shop items (we heard you!)
• added /audit
• added /invite
• added /vote
• added /trivia
• blackjack was reworked
  • added "shoes" as a concept
    • x decks are shuffled in the shoe and taken out when cards are dealt
    • tldr; no more infinite card decks
  • payouts change
    • payouts are now always 1:1 and 3:2 if won with a blackjack (21)
    • removed multi
    • (payouts for blackjacks on a split ace are only 1:1, not 3:2)
  • double down option
    • you can now double down your bet at any time in the game
    • it essentially means hitting one time and standing with double your bet
  • splitting
    • explanation: https://i.imgur.com/8O13mwi.png
    • you can split up to 2 times
  • on tie, no money is lost
  • added surrender option
    • you can surrender as your first action, you get half of the bet back
  • user and the dealer can now instantly win when starting the game
  • added "play again" button
    • essentially starts a new blackjack game BUT keeps the shoe state
  • added different bj tables
    • after each game, you have the ability to switch tables (table rules)
    • some tables might require a blackjack badge
    • if you switch to a different table, "play again" cost is set to max(last bet, min bet in this table)
    • shoe is refilled on every table switch with x amount of decks
    • if you run /blackjack and have more than 1 table unlocked, u will be instantly asked to select a table
      • only tables that are valid for your bet are enabled
• removed blacklists as a concept
  • blacklists are now normal (temporary) bans
  • bans no longer stop u from using the bot, only the currency
  • this change is to both avoid confusion between blacklists and bans, AND because the word blacklist isn't ideal in the first place
• added /partners
• added /help
• added giveaway system
  • new /giveaway command
  • you can giveaway your coins and items from anywhere
  • if you don't specify a server, it will be posted in every partner server & will be viewable in /giveaway view
  • if you specify a server, it will be posted ONLY in the chosen partner server & will not be viewable in /giveaway view
  • /giveaway view shows a random global giveaway that you can enter, bc beta is small it will probably show the same one multiple times
  • you can host max 1 giveaway at once
  • all giveaways take 1 hour
  • min value of the giveaway is 500k rn
  • patrons can add a message to their giveaways, there will be a new bot rule about this at launch
• Lots of small UI and QoL changes that we've probably forgotten to list here

Rewards for BETA TESTING!

ANY user who does beta testing for us during this week period will get the following rewards after rewrite completion (September target for these rewards)

• Slash command beta badge
• "Look mom, I'm a beta" Title

Any user who submits a bug to our support server (discord.gg/dankmemerbot) and it is both valid AND gets fixed gets the following rewards at the same date as above

• Bug hunter badge
• 3x God boxes
• "Bug Detective" Title

There are instructions for bug reporting in the #report-beta-bugs in our support server.

The RICHEST USER at the end of this beta period will get the following on the main bot:

• 10 Blobs, handcrafted by Melmsie (not inflation, these already exist on another account)
• Your username in the beg command
• Your own search location (basic rewards)

We feel every user for this beta test is starting off on equal footing, and we wanna see exactly how high you can soar. The only rule is IF you find a dupe glitch to become this rich, you tell us what it was so we can fix it after this week. Tell us WHEN you find it, and not last second. No other rules for this at all. Team up, go solo, we don't care!

Slash commands??? WTF????

We've addressed this multiple times. We get it, people don't like slash commands. That said, Discord is requiring bots to transition to slash commands later this year no matter what, so it's better to get used to it now.

We've found not only for ourselves, but our alpha testers at like 20:1 have found they enjoy slash commands MUCH MORE after giving it a little time to get used to it. It's a learning curve from what you're used to, but the UX is just SO much better. (Make sure you update your clients for the best experience)

Rewrite ETA

We are on track to release well before the September deadline by Discord. No firm ETA, but you can see how complete the bot is from this beta!

BREAK THIS BOT

We WANT you to find any possible way you can break and abuse this. We are not bot banning anyone for finding and using exploits for this beta test, we're only asking that you report them to us so we can fix them later. In fact, if you find a big enough exploit we'll give you higher rewards than the default bug report rewards.

Add the beta bot

You can invite our beta bot right now and start running slash commands as soon as they show up in your client. Any and all servers willing to test the HELL out of this are helping us out a ton.

You can also read the last blog to make sure you're fully prepared to invite it (link to blog here)

Chaos

Just like these patch notes are chaotic and all over the place, we expect both DMC and our support server to be chaotic with questions and strong opinions. The support server will be locked during the entirety of the beta test, however, we left a premium user support channel open in DMC for those with premium channel access.

DMC will stay unlocked unless things get out of hand, so let us be civil with each other dear god, please.
