Rules? They exist?!

Rules? Exist! There are guidelines that all users agree to follow when using our services. Not only do we abide by the same rules as Discord (these can be found here), but we also carry a suite of extended terms to be adhered to. These rules exist to protect users of our bot and create a positive environment for it to be used in. First, we will break down these rules in detail, and follow it up with how to report users you may come across who are breaking them!

It helps to know the rules to begin with so below we will cover each one of them in greater detail than presented at https://dankmemer.lol/rules. These will be broken out in easily understood bullet points, much like the Bot Admin team refers to when we take action on users who break these rules.

Rule 1 - User-bots, Spamming, Alts, and Macros

• A user is using bot-driven accounts to mine or farm loot from the bot (we refer to this internally as "self-botting")
  • This particular rule break also breaks Discord's terms of service you agreed to in order to use the platform. Discord globally banned user accounts from being used as bot accounts when they provided the endpoint to separate the way these accounts authenticate (log in) with discord.
• A user is using a 3rd party "tasking", scripting, auto-clicking, or clipboard services to automate commands while AFK (away from keyboard)
  • This also breaks discord terms mentioned above!
• A user is using multiple accounts to gain leverage in-game
  • Multiple accounts to vote
  • Multiple accounts to get new player items
  • Multiple accounts to participate in the lottery
  • Multiple accounts to effect gamed outcomes (heist, rob, trade auctioning, etc)
  • Using multiple accounts to buy limited time drops
  • Secondary accounts used to bypass a previous blacklist or ban for breaking the rules
  • Having a holder account is fine with us as long as it isn't used for any of the above

Rule 2 - Sharing Exploits

While we try our best to test our codebase before shipping big changes to our users, bugs will exist from time to time. These bugs must get reported to our Support Server. We have a permanent posting for a bug bounty when the bug pertains to a duplication exploit or something similar that could diminish the bot's economy balancing. We award users who report these bugs, and moderate users who abuse them. It's not worth it to share or abuse these bugs yourself. Under this rule, we employ what we refer to internally as "Bad Friends". If you exchange or engage with exploited users, we assume you had knowledge in the exploit yourself, thus you chance action being taken to the same effect as the exploited user. Never hesitate to report suspicious users or users who are bragging they have some sort of exploitative measures in using our bot.

Rule 3 - Giveaway Reqs or Bot Usage Reqs Within Your Server

There are A LOT of counterpoints, or loopholing that users attempt within this rule so we will do our best to explain it as simple as possible.

• CAN
  • Allow special giveaways for boosters only
  • Utilize level locks using external leveling bots that track activity within your server
• CANNOT
  • Lock any giveaways for the bot behind cash paywalls
  • Lock any giveaways for the bot behind Patreon roles, or real money donor roles
  • Lock any giveaways for the bot behind a required "invite to server" threshold (more on this in rule 5)
  • Lock any giveaways for the bot behind other requirements in regards to currency-related items within other bots

Rule 4 - Racism, Homophobia, Sexism, or Slurs

This rule is pretty self-explanatory. Using any slur or similar targeting while running commands with the bot are severely punished. We can't and won't punish what you type outside of those commands, however, Discord does

Rule 5 - Using the bot to advertise

• Posting ads offering the trading of DMC (dank memer coins) or Items in exchange for server invites
• Posting ads offering the trading of DMC/Items in exchange for server bumps on external services
• "Partnering" with other servers for ping for ping sharing under the premise of exchanging DMC/Items
• Sending DMs offering DMC/Items to users if they join your server

All the above is prohibited

Rule 6 - Real Money Trading

Internally we refer to this as "RMT".

• Offering to exchange DMC/Items for real money (any denomination)
• Offering to exchange DMC/Items for boosts
• Offering to exchange DMC/Items for other bot currencies
• Purchasing lootbox or premium items outside of our patreon or our website
• Offering to "sell" discord account/servers in exchange for monetary value
  • We can only police this when it comes to DMC/Items being among the offerings in the exchange, however, discord strictly forbids this in their terms of service
• Offering game pass, Robux, premium accounts or services, and similar in exchange for DMC/Items

Rule 7 - Etiquette

• Starting harmful rumors regarding the bot, its services, or its staff
• Witch-hunting or starting drama regarding users within the player base
• Witch-hunting or starting drama regarding staff members from our servers or on our development team

We will always do our best in ensuring a positive environment to use our bot and offer our community-led Dank Memer Community server where our player base can interact with one another, and the bot.

Rule 8 - Discord Terms of Service and Usage Guidelines

In using Dank Memer, and any of its services, you accept our Terms, our Privacy Policy, as well as Discord's Terms and Community Guidelines; and our rules, all of which, and herein, are enforceable through Dank Memer.

Now that we have clearly outlined the rules, let's get to reporting the rulebreakers. We provide a tool on our website to make this super easy! Here are some things you'll want to gather before you go and submit your report:

• The ID of the user or server you wish to report.
  • You can find this by referring to this article
  • We can only process reports that have this ID. We cannot retrieve currency profiles or moderate users/servers by name, message links, or profile links
• SS (screenshot) evidence of rule break
  • Refer to your mobile manufacturer if you're on mobile on how to take a screenshot
  • Refer to your hotkey setup for any clipping software you may have on your computer if you're using Discord from a desktop/laptop
    • Upload these screenshots to an image hosting service like https://imgur.com and copy the link to them to use in your report
• Details outlining what rules were broken

Once you have gathered all of these items, point your browser to https://dankmemer.lol/reports and follow the steps outlined in that form (make sure you're logged in!). Select if you're reporting a user or a server, which rule you believe they've broken, and in the text box at the bottom of the form, including the details, you gathered from above, along with the links pointing to your SS evidence.

We process these reports within a few days of their submission and a Bot Admin will contact you if they need more information. Be as detailed as possible, make double sure the IDs you are reporting are correct, and include the screenshot evidence links for the fastest and smoothest report experience!

All reporting is anonymous, too! We will never share details of reports, or the users who make the report.

Throughout this blog, we've hyperlinked multiple articles, services, and other goods that we referenced. The direct links can be found below. Help us in maintaining a positive, safe, and fair gameplay environment by being kind to each other, following our rules, and reporting those who break them.
