The aim of this post is to help clarify the Dank Memer bot rules and to answer some common questions about how they apply to you. The first section will give examples of what’s allowed and what isn’t in the scope of each bot rule. The second part will answer some questions we’ve been asked by members.

Rules Explained

For the rules themselves, please refer to the rules page.

This one is pretty self-explanatory.

Not allowed:

• User-bots/Automation: using scripts, clipboard services, apps, third-party tools, auto-clickers, etc. to automate gameplay, especially while AFK.
• Spamming: repeatedly using the same command while it’s on cooldown, while you have a captcha/verification pending, or while bot banned.

Allowed:

• Having text replacements on your keyboard so you don’t have to manually type full phrases/commands.
• Manually using copy/paste.

This rule is self-explanatory.

This rule applies to:

• Dank Memer giveaways, heists, and events.
• Access to the bot itself.
• Events or giveaways hosted using other apps/sites/bots with Dank Memer rewards.
• Individual bot commands or auto-responses in a server.
• Anything else involving Dank Memer and Dank Memer currency/items.

Not allowed:
Any of the above being locked behind or benefitting from the following:

• Anything which requires spending real money (USD, EUR, Patreon, Crypto, Nitro donations, etc.).
• Cash paywalls.
• “Invite to server” requirements.
• Any requirements using other bots (except those stated below).
• Examples of things you can’t do:
  • Lottery events where the winner also receives anything other than the reward in the lottery (like nitro).
  • Nitro giveaways/events with a DMC donor role as requirement.
  • DMC giveaways/events with a real money donor role as requirement.
  • Members with a real money donor role having access to or being immune to auto-responses.
  • Exclusive heists for members who invited 3 others to your server.
  • Giveaway requirement bypass for real money donors.

Allowed:

• Events hosted with external bots, sites, games, or apps that are free to use.
• Dank Memer giveaways/events without requirements for which the winner also gets a non-Dank Memer prize (like Nitro).
  • Exception: raffles, since that crosses into real money trading (Rule 6).
• Auctions in which members can use their coins/items to bid on a prize.
  • The server is allowed to retain an “auction tax” to be used for hosting events/giveaways.
  • Try to make sure the server is serious when joining auctions so you don’t get scammed.
• Allowed requirements for Dank Memer giveaways/events:
  • A server voter role which members can obtain by voting on a third-party site for free.
  • The Discord server booster role.
  • Dank Memer item/coin donor roles.
  • Level locks using external bot.
  • NOTE: faster levelling, bonus levels, or bypasses may NOT be granted for any of the not allowed above.

Not allowed:

• A giveaway/heist/event with:
  • a requirement to join a server to win/participate
• A global/server boost message:
  • advertising a server
  • promoting anything

Allowed:

• Heist/Event partnerships wherein server members are informed of heist/(Dank Memer) events in another server

Not allowed:

• Trading Dank Memer currency/items for anything outside of Dank Memer. This includes things like real money, crypto currency, Discord nitro/boosts, other bot currency, Robux, Discord accounts, gift cards, etc.

Allowed:

• Paying another player Dank Memer currency in return for them buying Gems as a gift for you. Read [rule 11](https://dankmemer.lol/rules) for details.
• Paying for services such as:
  • making art for your server
  • making art for your profile
  • organizing heist partnerships

In addition to what’s listed in the rule, the following is not allowed:

• Enabling robbing in your server if it was previously disabled.
• Asking/paying/bribing a server owner to enable robbing in their server.
• Using the friend system to trade with strangers.
  • This includes adding someone just to give them a pet.
• Adding other players as a friend just to trade with them or give them items/coins.

If you want to gift items/coins to a stranger, you can post a private market offer and give them the code.

In addition to what’s listed in the rule, it is not allowed to use a server pool:

• as a loan system to loan coins to members.
• to hold wagers which are paid out to the winner of a fight/game.
• as a collection pool for betting on things (like sports).
  • This also violates Discord Terms of Service!

This rule is self-explanatory.
We get a lot of questions about the “refund” part of this rule. The ONLY scenario in which you MAY be eligible to receive something when scammed is this: You purchased gems as a gift for another player and they didn’t send you the agreed upon items/coins. IF they didn’t spend the gems you paid for, we may transfer them to you.
You will NOT get refunded if you send items/coins to someone and they don’t buy the gems for you.

Not allowed:

• Asking other players for:
  • loans
  • gifts
  • handouts
  • spares
  • gems
  • server/global boosts
  • Etc.
• Note: Using words like “slide” is the same as just asking directly.
• Being toxic towards other players in a Dank Memer context (i.e. after losing a fight)

Bot Bans and Appeals

Support Server Staff, Community Server Staff, and members of the Dank Memer Team DO NOT have any information about your ban. They can’t unban you or otherwise help you with it. Bans/appeals are only handled by bot admins and the only way to contact them is via the steps below:

• Run a currency command and it will show you your ban reason, ban length, and an appeal button.
• Gather information about your ban to help support your appeal.
• Check back over the last month of your DMs and activity in servers for anything that could have made someone report you.
• Upload proof to imgur.com
• Run another currency command and click the appeal button.
• Explain why you should be unbanned AND include the link to the imgur images. You can appeal at most two times per ban (one after the first one is denied), so make sure to add as much valuable information to your appeal as possible!
• It can take a few weeks for appeals to be read, but whether it is denied or accepted, you'll receive a DM from the bot if you have DMs open in at least one server with dank.

Note: Server bans, in which a complete server is banned from using the bot, cannot be appealed.

FAQ

This section will hopefully provide clarity on some of the questions we’ve been asked.

Can I use my alt for ________?

You may not use multiple accounts to:

• Vote or claim freemium
• Bypass a previous blacklist or ban for breaking the rules

You may use multiple accounts to:

• Grind
• Fish
• Store coins/items
• etc.

Can I be punished for asking/paying someone else to break the rules?

Yes. Encouraging or instigating rule breaking is treated as though you broke the rules too.

I loaned someone coins/items and they didn’t pay back. Can I get them back and can I report them?

No and no. Rule 9 clearly states that loan scams are not covered. Do not loan to anyone if you don’t want to get scammed! If someone is bugging you for a loan, report them for begging (Rule 12) and block them.

Can I ban someone from my server for robbing me?

Yes, you run your server however you see fit. HOWEVER: you cannot kick/ban/timeout/etc. players after robbing them to prevent them from stealing back their coins.

I joined a server and got robbed/heisted. Can I report the server or user who robbed/invited me?

Maybe. If the server was advertised as having rob/heist disabled or as not having Dank Memer, yes. If you joined the server without knowing the bot was there or without clarifying if robbing/heisting was enabled, no.

As a server owner, can I allow members to donate coins/items to reduce their punishments for breaking server rules?

No!

Someone scammed me but they’re in my server. Can I enable rob to get my coins back if I disable it again afterwards?

No. Others breaking rules is no justification for you to do the same. Report the person who scammed you and move on.

Closing Words

The rules intentionally don’t include everything you can and can’t do. If we tried to list every single scenario of how the rules are applied, someone would eventually find a loophole and abuse it.
Use some common sense and enjoy the bot how it is. As a general rule of thumb: if you’re using Dank Memer to have fun, you’ll never have any problems. If you’re looking for grey areas to abuse for personal gain, don’t complain when you get banned.
