A Guide to Profile Customization
Accessibility TLDR:
This article explains how to customize your Dank Memer profile by adding, removing, and rearranging information. Free and advanced customization options are available, and Patreon/premium users can add an image and choose a color for their profile.
Do you have stats on your Dank Memer profile that you wish would disappear? Or maybe some you wish you could show that currently aren’t visible?
Well customizing your profile is now easier than ever, and you can add, remove, and reorder almost every piece of information that is possible to show on your profile. Some customization options are free for all users, but others need to be purchased through the /advancements upgrades command. Read more below for all of the steps to customizing your profile.
Simple Profile Customization
A basic Dank Memer profile has the same stats for everyone: prestiges, omegas, badges, levels, coin and item info, command usage, pet stats, and a showcase.
There is some simple profile customization you can do for free, including adding or changing the title that displays next to your name, adding your country, and writing a bio about yourself.
If you want to customize the title next to your name on your profile, look at the titles you have available on your /title list, and then select the one you want to show with /title set. Titles are earned by reaching certain levels, completing badges or achievements, or winning special contests announced on the Dank Memer blog.
To add your country and a bio to your profile, go to /settings and pick “Customize Your Profile” from the options. Click the “Edit Profile” button to open the editing view, and your profile will appear with three buttons beneath it.
Click the button for what you want to change, and enter your information. For country, you can put the entire country’s name or enter the country code. For the bio, you can put anything you want to say, but make sure it follows Discord and Dank Memer TOS. Whatever you put for your country and bio will appear on your profile below your badges.
For your showcase, it will be empty by default, but you can customize it by purchasing slots using the /showcase buy command and adding items you want to display with /showcase add.
If you want to customize even further, then you’ll want to purchase the advanced profile customization upgrade for nearly complete control over what shows on your profile.
Advanced Profile Customization
Under the /advancements upgrades command you’ll see a variety of upgrades you can purchase to enhance your Dank Memer experience. One such upgrade is the Advanced Profile Customization option. You can read more about the other upgrades here.
The Advanced Profile Customization Upgrade allows you to choose exactly what information is present on your profile. You can add information, remove information, and reorder it all to whatever you feel looks best.
To purchase the upgrade, do the /advancements upgrades command and then click the buy button under the Advanced Profile Customization option.
Once you’ve purchased the upgrade, do /settings, click the “Customize Your Profile” option from the drop-down list, and then click “Edit Profile” to open the full editing options.
Advanced Customizing - The Basics
When you first begin to edit your profile after purchasing the profile customization upgrade, you’ll notice new buttons have been added to the editing view.
The drop-down menu that says “Level” at the top of the buttons tells you what category of information you are interacting with, such as levels, pets, work, showcase, etc. Click the down arrow next to the category name to browse all the possible categories you can display on your profile. There are tons of categories you can pick and choose from, but you currently can only show nine categories on your profile at a time.
The second drop-down menu that says “Whole Module” tells you what info you are changing for the category you selected. For example, the level category has options like level, experience, and experience bar. Each category has different information you can choose to show or hide. Click the down arrow next to “Whole Module” to view the full list of info available for the selected category.
Advanced Customizing - Adding and Removing
If you want to add a new category of information to your profile, click on the top drop-down menu where it said “Level” and choose which section you want to add to your profile. A green check means it’s currently visible on your profile, and a red X means it is hidden.
Once you’ve selected the hidden section you want to add, you’ll notice the second drop-down menu is now grayed out and you cannot click it.
This is because the category is not visible on your profile yet, so you cannot edit the information in it. Click the “Show” button beneath the two drop-down menus to make the category visible on your profile. Once it is visible, the second drop-down menu will become available so you can pick and choose which info you want to make visible for that category. Click where it says “Whole Module” to view the available info for the selected category.
Again, the red X means the info is hidden, and the green checkmark means it is currently showing. To make different info for a category, simply select the type of info you want to show, then click the “Show” button beneath the two menus and it will be added to your profile.
If you want to hide info within a category so it is no longer on the profile, follow the same process as above, but instead select something with a green check mark and click “hide” to remove it.
To remove an entire category of information, pick the category you want to hide in the first drop-down menu, make sure the second drop-down menu says “Whole Module”, and then when you click “Hide” it will remove the entire category from your profile.
Advanced Customizing - Reordering
Beyond adding and removing information, you can also reorder all of the categories and all of the information within each category throughout your profile. For the categories, think of your profile like a grid with nine possible spaces you can fill with information.
You can move what is in each of the nine spaces left or right so it changes places with what is currently there, or you can reorder information within each category. You can’t leave blank spaces between categories of information, though, as each space will be filled going from left to right, top to bottom.
To move categories around, select the category you want to move in the top drop-down menu, then make sure the second drop-down menu says “Whole Module” so you are editing the entire category as a whole.
Then, use the “Move Left” and “Move Right” buttons and you’ll see the category move on the profile. If something is on the end of a row like the “Items” category in the picture above, clicking “Move Right” will make it go down to the next row.
If you are on a mobile device, you may see all of the categories listed in a single line due to the smaller screen size. Clicking “Move Left” will move the categories up and “Move Right” down.
The other type of reordering you can do is to reorganize the information showing within a category. To re-organize the information within a category, select the category you want to work on in the top drop-down menu, and then pick the information you want to move in the second drop-down menu. For example, to reorganize the Level category so “Experience” is shown first, choose “Level” for the category in the top menu and then “Experience” for the second menu.
Notice how the “Move Left” and “Move Right” buttons now say “Move Up” and “Move Down” instead? This is because you are working with specific information within a category instead of the whole module. Click the “Move Up” button and the experience info will move up in the category.
You can move any section on your profile, or any information within a section in this way, just remember the top drop-down menu tells you what category you are interacting with, and the second drop-down menu tells you what information you are changing within the category.
Premium/Donor Profile Perks
The final way you can customize your profile is only for Patreon or premium users. If you want to become a donor, check out the available subscriptions in the Dank Memer Store.
Premium users who have purchased the advanced customization upgrade have a few extra ways they can customize their profile. First, premium users can have an image or a gif at the bottom of their profile, and second, they can pick a color to be added to the side of the profile embed. If you go to the “Customize Your Profile” option in settings and click “Edit Profile,” you’ll see two buttons, “Edit Color” and “Edit Image,” available.
To add a color, click the “Edit Color” button, and if you are a donor, a text box will open. Enter the name of the color you want to use, such as blue, purple, or red, and then hit “Submit”. If you have an exact color in mind, you can also enter the hex color code for the color if you want to get a more exact match. Once the color is submitted, it will be added to your profile on the left side.
If you want to add an image to your profile, you will need a link to the image that ends with .png, or .gif if you want to add a gif.
To get the link, you can put the image or gif you want to use as a comment on Discord, right-click, and select “copy link.” For a gif, you may have to go to the website the gif is from for the correct link, or you may need to add .gif at the end for the link to work if it doesn’t already have it. On mobile, you’ll have to long press on the image, select share, and copy the URL.
Once you’ve copied the link for the image or gif you want, click “Edit Image,” enter the link, and then submit. Once you’ve submitted it, the image will appear at the bottom of your profile below any other info you have visible.
If you have issues with the image loading, you can also try uploading it to an imaging sight like Imgur to get a link that way instead.
Customization Tips
- Each row of information on your profile is sized based on whichever category in the row is the largest, so if you have one long category of info and the rest in a row are short, it can lead to a lot of empty space. Rearranging so long categories are grouped together in the same row can help balance it and eliminate excess empty space.
- If you have nine categories of information already showing on your profile, you will have to hide one before you can add any more.
- When editing the text boxes for the country, profile bio, image, or color, you might get a message that tells you that you “canceled or abandoned the module.” This warning simply means the box you enter text in timed out, and you have to open a new one if you want to continue editing.
- If at any time you want to start over on your profile, you can click the red “Reset” button at the bottom of the customization options to make your profile revert back to its original appearance. Be warned, though, this cannot be undone once the profile is reset.
