A theme you’ll notice in this update is that we’re looking to improve the game for newer players while still keeping things interesting to those who have been around a while.

New players often struggle to earn money and items and are much more prone to losing what they do have to death than experienced players, who can just buy bulk Life Savers and not worry about such trivial things. To help new players level up a bit faster and prevent them from getting discouraged when they lose their hard-earned coins/items, we’ve made a number of improvements. These changes do come at a price (healthcare isn’t cheap), but we believe in Robin Hood and will be taking from the rich to give to the poor.

Stop worrying, we’re not actually taking anything from the rich! Just read the changelog, and you’ll see all that’s changed and how we’re making things a bit easier for newer players.

Fishing Season 6:

As with each previous season, there’s a new pass with great rewards to be earned and new store bundles to be bought. We’re also experimenting with sometimes allowing some of these bundles to be gifted to other players. One of the new bundles is free for all players!

Normally, as one season ends, we move the old seasonal buckets, skins, and decorations into the gem shop, but this time, the items from the Season of Festivity will not be added to the gem shop. We’re going to add a new way for you to obtain these and cosmetics from all previous seasons in an upcoming update.

The Season of the Invasion is going to be different than any previous season. If you’ve been following the sneak peaks channel in our community server, you already know that there won’t be a new location this season. Only one new non-seasonal fish has been added, so you can quickly earn your seasoned angler badge back. A few old fish have been added to other locations for balancing, so you’ll also need to catch those to be able to catch bosses again at some locations.

Invasion:

Instead of just adding another location, a new type of limited-time seasonal creatures will appear during a new event type: Invasions!

Every day, one location will be invaded. While the invasion is active, this season’s unique fish will be available at that location and can be caught in addition to the regular fish there. Invasion fish vary by invasion type, don’t appear on location cards in the fish guide, and cannot be picked for a leaderboard.

The first time you run /fish catch on a UTC day, you’ll receive an alert letting you know where the day’s active invasion is. They’ll also appear on the fishing embed, as seen here:

New Skill: Theory Crafter

This season, we’ve tweaked some skills to help users progress faster, and we’ve added the Theory Crafter skill. Theory Crafter allows you to modify your tools to change the game balance to your advantage. As you progressively unlock tiers, you’ll be able to buff your tools and even equip multiple baits in fishing and your idle machine.

Season Pass Tasks

Grinding season pass tiers had been a bit tedious, especially for some of the casual players. In this season, we’ve added daily tasks as a way for you to gain a bit of pass XP and some tokens. You can find the tasks by running /fish season and clicking the “View Pass Tasks” button. They can be rerolled if you find them too hard or frozen if you’d rather save them for a specific day or time. Once tasks are frozen, they won’t change again until you unfreeze them. Once unfrozen, the will change the next UTC day at reset.

Boss Chances

Boss chances have been balanced throughout all locations. There are still peak times, but the difference when fishing off-peak won’t be nearly as bad. No more having to stay up till 3 am to try to catch that missing Ahuitzotl variant. This should also improve everyone’s opinion of Scurvy Waters.

Chances/Multipliers

The order in which boosts, events, tool/bait buffs, and skills were applied had been inconsistent, making it hard for all of you min-maxers to really figure out which combinations are most efficient. We’ve reorganized them to ensure that anything that affects fishing odds is applied in the same order. That order is: global events -> tools -> baits -> skills -> boosts -> leaderboard bonuses.

Fish Sell Value

As announced before this update, the base value of all non-boss fish was increased with this update. Here are the exact changes:

Base Prices:
Absurdly Common: 2500 -> 3500 (+40%)
Very Common: 4000 -> 5000 (+25%)
Common: 5000 -> 7500 (+50%)
Regular: 10,000 -> 15,000 (+50%)
Rare: 20,000 -> 30,000 (+50%)
Very Rare: 250,000 -> 300,000 (+20%)
Boss: 5,000,000 -> no change

High Quality Fish

High quality fish have an increased minimum and maximum size compared to their base variant. This allows for higher weights than normally possible. Keep this in mind the next time you’re trying for a leaderboard.

QoL Changes:

We’ve heard your feedback and made some major QoL changes.

Skills

  • Idle at Mystic Pond with max Horo? Check!
  • Friends with the Trash Man selling trash not worth it? Fixed!
  • Summoning is too expensive? Not anymore!
  • Fight interactions with NPCs are too rare? Not with the right skill!
  • Min rep needed to get fight interactions? Think again!

Since this was a pretty big overhaul, everyone’s skills have been reset.
